SPEEDING MOTORISTS DETECTED ON THE A811
After just 3 days of speed detection operations on the A811, Central Scotland Safety Camera Partnership have detected a number of speeding offences with some vehicles being recorded at 89 and 99mph.
Chief Inspector Donald McMillan, head of the Road Policing Unit in Central Scotland Police said, "I fully support this initiative by the Safety Camera Partnership as it is tackling a route with a proven collision history and problems with excessive speed. Use of the Safety Camera Partnership gives access to a different tactic and the fact they have detected motorist driving at 99mph emphasizes this point. Driving at 99mph on what is a rural road, with wet road conditions, is a horrendous speed and the consequences of losing control or colliding with another vehicle is unthinkable. "
Central Scotland Safety Camera Partnership has published proposed activity on the route in an attempt to educate motorists using the A811 to drive safely within the speed limits.
