Our Cameras

Our mobile cameras are set up to help to reduce collisions and speed. Because our aim is to improve safety, not to catch you speeding, our cameras are highly visible and we tell you the locations where they are operating.
Central Scotland Safety Camera Partnership operates two mobile camera units across the area. The mobile units will focus operations at 12 identified sites with a history of collisions.
All sites where the mobile cameras are operating are sign-posted and the mobile units are highly visible. All our cameras are calibrated on an annual basis.
Our mobile safety camera vehicles are yellow and blue marked vans with distinct 'box brownie' markings and the safety camera partnership logo displayed on the side. Enforcement takes place in locations where the vans are clearly visible and not hidden behind any obstacles. In addition, warning signs are clearly visible in advance of where the vehicle is parked.
The sites cover stretches of road where people have been killed or injured and where there is a history of excess speed.
The cameras in our mobile units can take a photograph of the vehicle both approaching and receding. Usually the photos are of approaching vehicles. The camera is operated either from the back or the side of the van.
Mobile cameras produce a continuous film, so you will not be flashed. This film is read by authorised officers.
Our mobile cameras are Tele-Traffic LTI 20-20; they are calibrated on an annual basis and checked daily, both before and after use.
